On Tuesday, law enforcement officers detained several Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders during their protest against the National Conference-led government. The demonstration aimed to highlight alleged governance failures, including unfulfilled poll promises.
PDP leaders and activists attempted to march from the party headquarters near Sher-e-Kashmir Park towards Lal Chowk, despite police attempts to disperse the gathering. Key figures like Abdul Haq Khan and Mohammad Khurshid Alam were among those detained.
PDP members criticized the government's actions, calling it dictatorship. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti expressed frustration over the administration's focus on quelling protests instead of addressing pressing issues like water scarcity, electricity tariffs, and political prisoners.
