The latest efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza have hit a roadblock as US special envoy Steve Witkoff announced on Thursday that negotiations have been cut short. This decision comes in light of Hamas's response, which, according to Witkoff, indicates a lack of desire to establish peace.
Speaking from Qatar, Witkoff noted the significant efforts made by the mediators, declaring that the US team will now return for consultations. He emphasized that Hamas is not coordinated nor acting in good faith, necessitating a reconsideration of strategies moving forward.
The US remains steadfast in its goal to end the conflict in Gaza and will explore alternative options to secure the release of hostages and stabilize the region. Witkoff expressed disappointment in Hamas's approach, describing it as selfish and counterproductive.
