In a bold display of defiance, several Members of Parliament from the INDIA bloc, including prominent figures like Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, gathered to protest in front of the Parliament House complex on Tuesday. The focus of their dissent was the Election Commission's decision to revise the voter rolls in Bihar, which the opposition claims is an unfair exercise set to disenfranchise voters ahead of crucial Assembly elections.
The protest marked the tenth day of ongoing agitation, with only a brief hiatus observed in honor of the late Shibu Soren, former Jharkhand chief minister. Demonstrators held high banners and posters proclaiming 'Our Vote. Our Right. Our Fight.' and 'SIR - Silent Invisible Rigging,' conveying their vehement opposition to what they perceive as electoral injustice.
Unity across party lines was evident as Congress, DMK, TMC, and Left party members stood shoulder to shoulder, brandishing 'Stop SIR' placards. They vocally criticized the alleged collaboration between the Election Commission and the government, calling for an urgent parliamentary discussion to address their grievances and ensure fair electoral processes in Bihar.
