Opposition MPs from the INDIA bloc staged a significant protest on Monday at the Parliament House complex, opposing the Election Commission's recent voter roll revision in Bihar. Led by Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, the MPs rallied against what they viewed as an attempt to disenfranchise voters, particularly those from backward communities.
The protesters, including members from Congress, TMC, DMK, Left parties, RJD, and Samajwadi Party, brandished banners and chanted slogans such as "vote chor, gaddi chhor" and "vote chori band karo." They accused the Election Commission of deleting voter names to benefit the ruling BJP ahead of upcoming elections.
Amidst ongoing tensions, speculation arose that the opposition might seek an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Congress leader Naseer Hussain stated their commitment to using all democratic means to ensure unbiased election oversight, as MPs continued demanding discussions in both Houses of the Parliament.
