The faction of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), under the leadership of Bikram Chand "Biplav", has officially stepped into the political limelight after registering with the Election Commission. They will use a red rose as their election symbol.
Biplav's faction moved underground post-2006 as its then-leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' led the main Maoist party into mainstream politics via a Comprehensive Peace Accord. Resurfacing from covert operations in 2020, Biplav's group signed a peace deal, returning to open politics.
After completing party registration, Biplav expressed readiness to engage in the upcoming general elections, supporting Gen Z's calls against corruption and disorder. The Election Commission opened name registrations from November 17 with the deadline for entries set for November 26, leading up to the scheduled polls.
