Telangana's political scene has taken a controversial turn as Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar faces contempt proceedings from the Supreme Court. The issue stems from a delay in responding to disqualification pleas against ten BRS MLAs, including Kadiam Srihari, accused of defecting to Congress.
The Speaker issued a notice requiring Srihari to respond by November 23, but Srihari has requested additional time. Official sources confirmed these developments on Saturday.
The Supreme Court, citing the failure to meet its earlier directive of a three-month decision period, described this as 'the grossest kind of contempt.' With further hearings scheduled after four weeks, the political implications are being closely monitored.
