The political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a stir on Monday as the women's wing of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) faced a setback in their attempt to protest against proposed hikes in power tariffs.
The protest, intended to highlight increasing financial strain on residents during peak hours, was thwarted by law enforcement who barred the activists from exiting their party headquarters near Sher-e-Kashmir Municipal Park, officials reported.
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti vocalized her discontent on social media, accusing authorities of stifling peaceful expressions of dissent under the guise of law and order. Mufti emphasized that such actions symbolize a broader suppressive trend curtailing democratic rights since 2019.
