Ukraine and U.S. Refine Peace Framework Amid Russian Tensions
Ukraine, led by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, continues to collaborate with global partners, particularly the U.S., on peace proposals in the midst of the ongoing conflict with Russia. Talks have resulted in a 'refined peace framework,' with significant discussions around the use of frozen Russian assets.
KYIV, Nov 24 (Reuters) - Ukraine is steadfast in its collaboration with international partners, including the United States, as it navigates peace proposals amid its conflict with Russia, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Monday. This statement followed the second day of negotiations in Switzerland, where Washington tabled a plan requiring concessions from Kyiv.
Zelenskiy communicated via video from Sweden, where he was attending a summit focused on advocating for Russian withdrawal from the Crimea Peninsula. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to seek compromises that fortify Ukraine without undermining it.
On Sunday, Ukraine and the United States jointly announced the creation of a 'refined peace framework' during discussions in Geneva, though specific details remain undisclosed. President Zelenskiy emphasized that Russia should bear financial responsibility for the war in Ukraine, highlighting the pivotal role of decisions concerning the use of frozen Russian assets.
