Citing political concerns in Kerala, Congress general secretary K C Venugopal has branded Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan as the central government's 'Trojan horse'. This accusation comes amid heightened tensions between the Congress and the ruling CPI(M) after state Minister V Sivankutty labeled Venugopal a similar 'Trojan horse' of the BJP.
Venugopal alleged that the current Kerala government is echoing Prime Minister Modi's policies, as seen with the PM SHRI scheme and new labour codes. These initiatives, according to him, reflect an alignment of the state's actions with central government objectives, prompting questions about the CPI(M)'s working-class advocacy.
He challenged the CPI(M) to clarify their stance, emphasizing the silence of CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam on these labour issues. Venugopal's statements follow Sivankutty's claims of an internal nexus between him and the BJP, given the absence of actions against Venugopal by central investigative agencies, unlike Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
