In a significant move to mend economic ties, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng held a comprehensive video conversation with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer. The discussion aimed to promote stability in bilateral trade relations.
Both countries expressed a commitment to widening the scope of cooperation while seeking to address and minimize existing issues, according to the state-run Xinhua news agency. They reflected positively on the success of prior trade negotiations and outlined plans for future collaboration.
Following discussions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the two countries have agreed to temporarily reduce tariffs and lift some export restrictions, signaling a year-long ceasefire in their trade tensions.
