In a fiery press conference on Friday, AICC General Secretary Manoj Chauhan accused Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, of rampant corruption. Chauhan claimed that Sarma was the most 'corrupt' CM in the country with unaccounted properties not just in Assam, but across India and internationally.
Chauhan questioned the rapid acquisition of wealth by Sarma's wife, highlighting discrepancies in her financial growth following Sarma's political rise. He also referenced the case of singer Zubeen Garg, criticizing the Chief Minister for delaying the acknowledgment of Garg's murder, which he says reflects the failings of the state's Home Department.
With elections approaching, Chauhan alleged that the BJP misleads voters on the ST status issue for six communities. He urged residents to be vigilant, pressuring Assam's citizens to ensure fair elections. Meanwhile, the SIT is progressing on the Zubeen Garg case, with the Chief Minister promising a chargesheet by mid-December.
