In a move fraught with political and communal ramifications, Humayun Kabir, a suspended MLA from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has initiated the construction of the Babri Masjid in Murshidabad, West Bengal. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of enabling divisive politics for more than a decade.
Majumdar alleged police complicity and blamed Banerjee for supporting the mosque's establishment, asserting that her suspension of Kabir was merely a facade to appease Hindu sentiments. "The Bengali Hindus must discern Mamata's duplicity," he warned, predicting potential communal strife reminiscent of historical conflicts.
In response, Kabir defended his actions as constitutional, emphasizing his legal right to build a place of worship. He dismissed legal threats, maintaining his resolve to proceed with the project. Kabir highlighted the mosque's inclusive plans, reinforcing the commitment of Bengal's Muslim community to its realization.
