Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday accused the West Bengal government of turning a blind eye to the foundation of a mosque named after Mughal emperor Babar in Murshidabad district.
In a Kolkata procession aiming to promote Hindu unity, Adhikari stated he opposed naming a mosque after Babar but had no issue with constructing mosques in general. The event marked the anniversary of Babri Masjid's demolition.
Suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir laid the foundation stone for the mosque, modeled after Ayodhya's Babri Masjid, at Rejinagar. Adhikari questioned land allotment decisions and accused the government of bias. As tensions rise, he warned of West Bengal's potential transformation into 'Paschim Bangladesh.'
