Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday critiqued the Maharashtra government for failing to appoint Leaders of the Opposition (LoP) in the state's legislature. He asserted that this omission reflects the ruling parties' fear and undermines democratic processes.
Raut expressed strong opposition to the idea of creating a separate state of Vidarbha, allegedly backed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He emphasized that Shiv Sena (UBT) will resist any attempt to divide Maharashtra.
Highlighting the importance of the LoP, Raut said that Maharashtra has historically appointed LoPs even when opposition numbers were scarce, contrasting with the current situation. He accused the BJP of a systematic effort to diminish the role of LoP across the nation.
