The Delhi Court's recent decision dismissed the charges filed by the Enforcement Directorate against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi related to the National Herald case. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah welcomed the verdict, stating it exposes what he terms as the Modi government's 'illegality' and 'malafide intent.'
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar echoed this sentiment, adding that the government's misuse of power has been revealed. The ED, having accused Sonia and Rahul Gandhi among others of conspiracy and money laundering, plans to appeal the decision. However, the court found the charges filed without proper jurisdiction.
Both leaders affirmed solidarity with Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, emphasizing the Congress party's steadfastness against what they label a politically motivated campaign. Special Judge Vishal Gogne highlighted the lack of predicate offense FIR as a basis for dismissing the chargesheet's cognisance.
