In a substantial revision of electoral rolls in Rajasthan, state officials have removed about 42 lakh voter entries. In Tuesday's briefing, Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan reported that these deletions are due to deaths, migrations, or absences during enumeration activities.
Mahajan highlighted the logistical challenges faced, with enumeration forms for 41.85 lakh of the 5.46 crore voters not being collected. Notices will now be sent to approximately 11 lakh voters for further document verification.
Jaipur is marked as the district with the highest voter deletion rate. This revision follows an Election Commission announcement that draft electoral rolls for three states, including Rajasthan, would be published, marking a critical phase in the Special Intensive Revision initiative.
