Rajasthan is embroiled in a voter list controversy as former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot raises concerns about the removal of Congress-supporting voters. Gehlot alleges that unidentified individuals have submitted numerous Form 7 applications in an attempt to erase these voters from the electoral roll.
In a social media statement, Gehlot implored Congress workers and booth presidents to monitor the situation closely to prevent any legitimate votes from being discarded. He also urged administrative officials to adhere to constitutional mandates, warning that any illegal activity would lead to legal repercussions.
The controversy comes on the heels of the special intensive revision of Rajasthan's voter list, where nearly 42 lakh names were removed from a pool of 5.46 crore voters. As January 15 marks the deadline for filing objections, hearings and decisions will continue until February 7, with the final roll to be published on February 14.
