In the aftermath of the Amravati Municipal Corporation elections, party tensions surfaced as 22 BJP candidates addressed a formal complaint to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging the expulsion of former MP Navneet Rana. They accused Rana of undermining the party's electoral efforts by campaigning on behalf of the opposing Yuva Swabhiman Party.
The elections culminated on January 15, resulting in 20 out of the 22 complainants experiencing losses, which they attribute to Rana's support for her husband Ravi Rana's party. The BJP only secured 25 seats compared to the 45 it held previously, with results showcasing a fragmented polity in the corporation.
BJP members claim that Rana's actions, if unchecked, threaten the party's influence in Amravati. As the blame game continues, the former MP's stance remains undisclosed. This inner-party conflict highlights strategic discord within Maharashtra's political landscape.
