In a significant political development, Congress Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday. The announcement was made in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other senior BJP leaders.
The move comes a day after Bordoloi's resignation from the Congress party, a decision that was finalized with the approval of BJP national president Nitin Nabin.
Assam Chief Minister Sarma officially welcomed Bordoloi into the party, noting the significance of the shift. Bordoloi had addressed his resignation letter to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, as confirmed by state media chairperson Bedabrata Bora.
