In the aftermath of the Assam Assembly elections, Congress candidate from Chenga, Abdur Rahim Ahmed, has cast doubt over the results, raising questions about the reliability of electronic voting machines (EVMs). 'Respect for the people's decision is paramount, but there are numerous unanswered questions regarding the unexpected outcome,' Ahmed stated in a conversation with ANI.

Ahmed pointed to widespread uncertainty about the election's integrity, specifically critiquing the role of EVMs. 'Many people harbor doubts about the effect these machines had on election results,' he added, urging for an investigation by the party leadership to address these public concerns and guarantee electoral fairness.

The Congress party, having secured only 15 seats while the BJP won a decisive 82-seat victory, is set to investigate further with Assam Congress President Gaurav Gogoi asserting a commitment to upholding the transparency and fairness of the electoral process. Amidst this turmoil, Gogoi highlighted the impeachment motion against CEC Gyanesh Kumar and a pending petition in the Supreme Court, driven by past concerns raised by Rahul Gandhi. Gogoi voiced apprehension over BJP's influence, warning against a single-party dominance that could undermine democratic processes.
