West Bengal's Cabinet Grows with Induction of 35 New Ministers

In West Bengal, 35 MLAs have joined the newly formed BJP-led cabinet, expanding its strength to 41 members. The ceremony was a significant part of the BJP's recent electoral victory, ending 15 years of Trinamool Congress governance.

On Monday, West Bengal witnessed the swearing-in of 35 MLAs as ministers, marking a significant expansion in the state's first BJP-led cabinet. Governor RN Ravi administered the oaths at Lok Bhavan, increasing Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's council of ministers count to 41.

The ceremony was attended by prominent political figures, including Adhikari state leaders and senior bureaucrats. Thirteen BJP MLAs were sworn in as cabinet ministers while others took different ministerial roles. Notable MLAs including Swapan Dasgupta and Shankar Ghosh were among those elevated to cabinet positions.

This expansion follows BJP's considerable electoral success, capturing 208 out of 294 seats, concluding the 15-year tenure of the Trinamool Congress. The ceremony follows meetings between Adhikari, BJP leaders, and the party's central leadership to finalize the cabinet's composition.
