The Greek parliament committee has given the green light for the procurement of military defense systems, totaling between €1 billion and €1.2 billion. Key purchases include Brazilian-made Embraer C-390 military transport aircraft and various drones from the U.S. and Israel.

Significant funds, approximately half of the budget, will go towards the acquisition and support of the C-390 aircraft. Additional expenditures are earmarked for Israeli Heron air drone systems, U.S. V-BAT air drones, and the upgrade of German-made MEKO-200 frigates.

While still requiring approval from Greece's top decision-making authority on foreign affairs and defense, KYSEA, the measures are anticipated to pass. This investment is part of a broader strategy to revamp Greece's military infrastructure, with €28 billion planned through 2036 following a decade-long debt crisis.
