Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat Monday said the decision to scrap article 370 was historic and it will help people of Jammu and Kashmir join the mainstream. "The people of Uttarakhand congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for taking a historic decision on Article 370," Rawat told reporters.
"The distances which have existed all these years between J&k and the rest of the country will now disappear. Development will get a boost and people of the state will join the mainstream," he added. Stressing that Modi has kept his promise by showing great courage, Rawat said giving Union Territory status to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh will strengthen security in border areas besides giving a fillip to business activities.
"Today the country has truly become one," the chief minister said.
