Mumbai faced an intense spell of monsoon rainfall, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Santacruz observatory, representing Mumbai's western suburbs, recorded a substantial 200 mm of rain in a 24-hour period, ending at 8:30 am on Wednesday.
Matheran, a popular hill station in Raigad district, experienced the highest rainfall among neighboring areas, with 382.5 mm. Other parts of Mumbai, including Vikhroli and the airport area, also reported significant rainfall, highlighting the widespread impact of the downpour.
The IMD has issued advisories, urging residents and local authorities to remain vigilant as heavy rains are expected to persist in Mumbai and surrounding districts. This warning comes in the wake of already recorded substantial downpours across the region.
