The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has strategically deployed 45 rescue teams in anticipation of Cyclone Montha. The cyclone is expected to severely impact coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, as well as cause heavy rainfall in Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu.

Of these, 25 teams are pre-positioned in various states, with 10 teams in Andhra Pradesh, six in Odisha, three each in Tamil Nadu and Telangana, two in Chhattisgarh, and one in Puducherry. Twenty additional teams remain on standby, ready for immediate dispatch.

Equipped with boats, cutting tools, and communication devices, NDRF teams are actively conducting community awareness campaigns to ensure timely evacuations and compliance with safety advisories. Cyclone Montha, named after a fragrant flower, intensified into a severe storm, with expectations to hit the Andhra coastline between Machilipatnam and Kanagaratnam around October 28th with wind speeds of up to 110 kmph.
