The Delhi government has ramped up its anti-pollution efforts, levying penalties amounting to Rs 7 crore and shuttering 48 construction sites for non-compliance. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa reiterated the government's commitment to year-round pollution control through a series of actions involving extensive inspections and immediate punishments for violators.

Sirsa met with officials to emphasize the importance of covering every sector, from industrial compliance to road maintenance. Over the past year, the city repaired more than 42,000 potholes, doubled mist-spraying systems, and enhanced waste management practices. In a concerted push for green transport, electric vehicle registrations have steadily climbed.

The Delhi government is also addressing open biomass burning, dust management, and industrial infractions, with the deployment of numerous enforcement teams. Providing electric heaters to residential areas aims to curb open fires. A forthcoming study with premier IIT institutions will target city-specific emissions, while an Innovation Challenge is underway to source pollution-control solutions.
