The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), in partnership with the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), has launched an initiative to enhance decentralised solid waste management. Project Segregation of Waste aims to foster sustainable waste recycling practices across its jurisdiction through various innovative methods.
As part of this initiative, NDMC has installed decentralised composting aerobins at strategic locations such as Golf Link and Central Park, among others. These systems have successfully processed over 15 metric tonnes of wet waste, converting it into organic manure for horticultural use within the community.
Funded by the Motherson Group through the Swarn Lata Motherson Trust, this project encourages behavioral change and community involvement. With plans to expand current sites and include more societies, NDMC and its partners are setting benchmarks in effective waste management.
