The Delhi government has unveiled a new initiative aimed at boosting the efficiency and employment prospects of 1.20 lakh construction workers through targeted skill training programs. This move, under the Code of Social Security, 2020, is set to benefit one of the city's most vulnerable labor segments, officials revealed on Monday.
The effort is spearheaded by the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, which is enlisting training partners to deliver high-quality training in trades like masonry, bar bending, electrical work, and more. The initiative aims to skill 40,000 workers annually, equipping them with practical skills for better job opportunities.
Training will encompass 120 hours over 15 days, with the partners arranging the necessary infrastructure and materials. After training, workers will be assessed and certified, enhancing their employability. This strategic move is a crucial step in ensuring sustainable economic empowerment for Delhi's migratory workforce.
