Slaughterhouses across Gujarat will remain shut on January 22 in observance of the two-year anniversary of the Ram Temple's consecration in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. This directive was announced by the state government on Wednesday.
The Urban Development and Urban Housing Department has issued a letter to commissioners of all municipal corporations and municipalities in Gujarat. The letter enforces an order to shut down abattoirs on the specified day.
The closure is set to coincide with the second anniversary celebrations of the Ram Temple's inauguration, marked by a ceremony led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22, 2024, where the idol of Ram Lalla was installed in the temple's sanctum sanctorum.
