The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has issued a 'yellow alert' indicating moderate heatwave conditions across the state until April 19. This alert advises residents to exercise caution as temperatures in certain districts could soar to extreme levels.

The statement from the authority outlines that maximum temperatures may climb to around 40 degrees Celsius in Palakkad district, 39 degrees Celsius in Kollam, and 38 degrees Celsius in Kottayam. Other districts such as Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod might see mercury levels rising to about 37 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram is expected to record temperatures near 36 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department warns that these temperatures are likely to remain 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal, signaling persistent hot and humid weather across most districts, barring the hilly regions.
