German authorities detained around 60 Lazio fans attempting to circumvent a police escort ahead of their Europa League game against Dynamo Kyiv, finding them armed with knives, clubs, and other weapons.
The fans, stopped late Tuesday, were held until Wednesday and subsequently banned from attending the match. No arrests were made.
Dynamo Kyiv, forced to play home games in Hamburg due to the war in Ukraine, hosted the match. Lazio supporters have a notorious track record of causing trouble, leading to numerous sanctions.
