India Emphasizes Inclusivity in Sports: Hosting Goals and Bilateral Ban with Pakistan
The Sports Ministry reaffirmed the ban on India-Pakistan bilateral sports events, while allowing multilateral participation. India aims to simplify visa processes to become a preferred hosting destination. Indian and Pakistani athletes can partake in international events held in either country, supporting India's bids for major games like the Commonwealth and Olympics.
The Sports Ministry has reiterated its stance, maintaining the ban on bilateral sporting ties with Pakistan while opening doors for Pakistani athletes to participate in multilateral events in India. This policy was announced amid efforts to position India as a leading destination for international sports events.
The Ministry has committed to simplifying visa processes for sportspersons and officials, aligning with its aspirations to host major events such as the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the 2036 Olympic Games. The policy underscores adherence to the Olympic Charter, promoting inclusivity.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has relocated its office from Shastri Bhawan to a new facility in Netaji Nagar, marking another step in its administrative evolution.
