Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Oman have earned their spots in the men's cricket competition at the upcoming Asian Games in Japan, scheduled for September and October. These teams showed their prowess in the qualifying rounds held in Singapore, where Nepal and Malaysia emerged as the top performers in Group A.
Qatar's withdrawal from Group A opened opportunities for Nepal, who clinched the top position by winning both their matches. Malaysia secured their qualification after defeating China in their first game. In Group B, Hong Kong and Oman displayed exceptional skill, remaining unbeaten. The two will soon clash to determine the semi-final lineup: the victor will face Malaysia, while the loser will compete against Nepal.
These qualifying teams will join the ranks of established cricket powerhouses like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, all of whom automatically qualified as Asia's Full Member nations, along with the host nation, Japan. The men's cricket event launches on September 24, with the decisive final match set for October 3.
