Apple Commits $100 Billion to Boost U.S. Manufacturing Amid Trade Tensions
Apple Inc plans to announce a $100 billion pledge to enhance domestic manufacturing in the U.S. This move aligns with President Trump's tariff and trade strategies. Apple's broader $500 billion investment aims to include a Texas factory and create 20,000 jobs. Tariffs have impacted Apple's costs and production strategies.
Apple Inc is set to announce a substantial domestic manufacturing commitment of $100 billion, focusing on increasing production within the United States. This news, revealed by a White House official, aligns with President Donald Trump's aggressive tariff and trade policies, which aim to shift manufacturing back to the U.S.
In February, Apple had already declared a $500 billion investment plan in the U.S. over the next four years, including a major factory in Texas for artificial intelligence servers and the addition of approximately 20,000 research and development positions nationwide.
Amid fluctuating tariff rates affecting many Apple products, the company's strategy involves sourcing iPhones from India and other products from Vietnam. White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers described Apple's new commitment as a significant win for U.S. manufacturing, promising to enhance America's economic and national security.
