Eutelsat Anticipates Boost from European Space Giant Merger
French satellite operator Eutelsat is set to benefit from a synergistic merger between Airbus, Thales, and Leonardo. Eutelsat, a prominent French satellite operator, anticipates significant advantages from the newly announced merger involving Airbus, Thales, and Leonardo. This strategic alliance is set to enhance the European satellite industry's competitive edge, as stated by the company on Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Europe's leading aerospace entities disclosed a preliminary agreement to establish a joint venture focused on satellite manufacturing and services, subject to regulatory endorsements. Eutelsat expressed its support for this transformation, citing potential improvements to the European supply chain.
The company currently sources satellites from Airbus and Thales, having placed an order for 100 satellites and planning to acquire an additional 340 by 2029 to bolster its OneWeb constellation.
