Bryan Bedford Tapped for FAA Leadership Amid Safety Concerns
Bryan Bedford, Republic Airways CEO, is being considered for the top FAA role amid a backdrop of aviation safety concerns and staffing shortages. Bedford, an industry veteran with three decades of experience, aims to lead crucial reforms in air traffic management. Recent incidents highlight urgent safety overhauls.

Bryan Bedford, CEO of Republic Airways, is reportedly the frontrunner to become the next head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as nominated by President Donald Trump. Sources informed Reuters that neither the White House nor Bedford have commented on the potential nomination.
With over 30 years of experience, Bedford has helmed two airlines and significantly expanded Republic Airways, which operates over 900 flights daily in the U.S. and Canada. The FAA position has been vacant since its former Administrator stepped down in January.
Recent tragic incidents, including a deadly mid-air collision near Washington and other crashes, have underscored urgent concerns about aviation safety. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy plans to request a hefty budget increase to update the air traffic control system, as current controllers face long, overworked schedules.
