The express logistics and courier sector in India is expected to surge from USD 9 billion in FY2024-25 to an impressive USD 18-22 billion by FY2029-30, according to a recent report. This sectoral growth is predicted to create between 6.5 to 7.5 million jobs, demonstrating its emerging role as a critical driver of the Indian economy.
The report, titled 'Express Industry in India 2025: Powering India's Economy, Connecting Businesses and Markets,' highlights the sector's crucial function during the COVID-19 pandemic, where it became indispensable for carrying out the world's largest vaccination campaign. The industry is now seen as a cornerstone of India's economic infrastructure, demanding agility, efficiency, and sustainable practices.
Released by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari among other dignitaries, the report emphasizes the need for policy measures, infrastructure upgrades, and technology adoption to sustain growth. Factors like increased internet penetration, e-commerce expansion, and MSME output, combined with governmental initiatives, are further fueling this dynamic sector.
