Delhi Transport Corporation Sees Financial Uptick Amid Public Transport Push

The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has reported a notable increase in financial earnings, averaging Rs 93.96 crore per month from April to October. This marks a significant rise compared to the Rs 68.54 crore monthly earnings recorded in the previous fiscal year, according to official figures released on Friday.
Between April and October, DTC accrued Rs 220.33 crore in ticket income, while its total income for the period reached Rs 658 crore, signaling steady financial progress. The subsidy for free bus travel for women contributed Rs 235.56 crore, underscoring the success of the Delhi government's initiative aimed at improving both safety and accessibility in public transport.
Despite these gains, the DTC faces a challenging financial backdrop, with overall liabilities surging from Rs 28,263 crore in 2015-16 to Rs 65,274 crore by 2021-22. Still, Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Singh affirmed the government's dedication to modernizing the city's transportation services, promising continued support to ensure efficient and reliable public mobility.
