The Department of Posts in India has announced a new bilateral agreement with JSC Russia Post, aimed at bolstering cross-border postal cooperation and facilitating e-commerce trade between the two nations, according to an official statement released Friday.
The agreement introduces the International Tracked Packet Service (ITPS), creating a reliable, cost-effective logistics channel specifically designed for low-value consignments, a crucial need in the global e-commerce sector. This service supports electronic advance data transmission, end-to-end tracking, and delivery confirmation, enhancing transparency and security.
With Russia's market growing for Indian products such as health items, apparel, and jewelry, the agreement allows India Post to offer competitive delivery rates, thus boosting the market access for Indian sellers. Coupled with the establishment of 1,013 Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras, the initiative is expected to primarily benefit MSMEs, artisans, and rural entrepreneurs by making Russian e-marketplaces more accessible.
