Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday highlighted the remarkable success of the 'Your Money, Your Right' initiative, revealing that nearly Rs 2,000 crore has been returned to rightful owners. Launched in October 2025, the initiative aims to help citizens reclaim their forgotten financial assets, safeguarding what is rightfully theirs.
Modi emphasized the opportunity to turn unclaimed financial assets into new opportunities, urging citizens to participate in the movement. He noted a startling amount of public money is left unclaimed, with Indian banks holding Rs 78,000 crore, insurance companies Rs 14,000 crore, mutual funds Rs 3,000 crore, and dividends Rs 9,000 crore, reflecting the hard-earned savings of countless families.
To streamline the reclaiming process, the government has set up dedicated digital portals: RBI's UDGAM for bank deposits, IRDAI's Bima Bharosa for insurance policies, SEBI's MITRA for mutual funds, and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs' IEPFA for dividends and shares. Facilitation camps in 477 districts boost accessibility, especially in remote areas.
The Prime Minister called on citizens to verify if they or their families have unclaimed assets and encouraged the use of these portals and camps. 'Act now to reclaim your wealth and empower your financial future,' Modi urged, emphasizing a collective move towards a transparent, financially inclusive India.
