India's trade relationships are on the brink of transformation, with several Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) poised to initiate major changes in international commerce. Although the agreement with the UK, signed last year, anticipates activation by May, discussions are still underway on the British side.
Additional deals include an FTA with Oman expected to start this June, granting duty-free access to India's exports, while India lowers tariffs on Omanese imports. A trade pact with New Zealand is slated for signing in late April, with a focus on enhancing bilateral trade and investments.
Furthermore, the comprehensive India-EU FTA is targeted for completion by year-end. Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal expressed that once operational, these agreements will significantly expand Indian export opportunities. Negotiations with Canada are also progressing with the next round set for May.
