Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's comments criticizing the Tamil Nadu government's refusal to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) in the Lok Sabha on Monday provoked uproar from the DMK, disrupting parliamentary proceedings.
Pradhan accused the state government of dishonesty and compromising students' futures, amid disputes over the PM SHRI scheme funds, contingent on NEP adoption. Despite initial agreements, Tamil Nadu opposed the policy, especially the three-language formula.
DMK members, supported by other opposition parties, protested fiercely, leading to an adjournment. The central government's stance and Pradhan's pejorative remarks have heightened tensions, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin challenging the minister's authority and affirming resistance against NEP imposition.
