In a gripping incident at the frozen Sela Lake in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang district, four tourists from Assam found themselves in icy peril. On Sunday, they attempted to navigate the lake's precarious frozen surface, disregarding prior warnings.
Quick-thinking companions acted promptly, pulling the tourists from the freezing waters, ensuring no fatalities, according to additional deputy commissioner Hakraso Kri. The tourists emerged safe and unharmed, the official confirmed.
Local authorities have consistently advised against such hazardous excursions, given the lake's cultural and spiritual significance. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized safety precautions in high-altitude, icy environments.
