A priest affiliated with the Jagannath Temple in Puri announced the development of a groundbreaking luxury resort with an emphasis on spirituality. The 300-room project, expected to redefine tourism in the holy town, is valued at Rs 200 crore.
Titled 'Jagannatham', the beachfront retreat promises a non-liquor, pure vegetarian experience aimed at offering spiritual serenity alongside modern comforts. Situated on a seven-acre plot along the Puri-Konark marine drive, the resort is set to open before the Rath Yatra of 2026 and hopes to appeal to both pilgrims and upscale tourists.
The resort will feature diverse amenities including studio and deluxe cottages, a spa, an amphitheatre, a jogging track, and a tennis court. With membership prices ranging from Rs 3.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh, the project aims for 5,000 members in its initial phase. Das and his family currently own the entire venture but remain open to equity options depending on the membership response.
