Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called on the public to prioritize Khadi purchases, suggesting that spending at least Rs 5,000 each year on these products could significantly bolster employment and illuminate thousands of lives.
During a Gandhi Jayanti event at the Khadi India showroom in Connaught Place, Shah reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'swadeshi' message, encouraging a national shift away from foreign goods. This initiative aligns with Modi's 'Make in India' campaign, aiming for economic progress through domestic production.
Highlighting Mahatma Gandhi's legacy, Shah reflected on the intertwined history of Khadi and the freedom movement, noting the significant increase in Khadi's popularity since 2014. With Khadi Gramodyog reaching a turnover of Rs 1,70,000 crore, Shah emphasized the need to embed 'swadeshi' values in future generations.
