A political storm has erupted in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district over a damaged idol of Goddess Kali. The discovery at a village within the Suryanagar gram panchayat area has triggered accusations from the BJP against the ruling TMC government, alleging a cover-up.
Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has claimed the act was perpetrated by 'jihadi elements' and criticized the state administration for allegedly hushing up the incident. The BJP sees the damaged idol as a symbol of the TMC government's administrative apathy.
However, the West Bengal Police refutes these claims, labeling them as misinformation and asserting that an investigation is in progress to identify and arrest the culprits. Despite tensions, the police have maintained control over the situation, with additional personnel deployed to prevent any escalation.
