Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha Make Landmark Appearance in Ladakh on Buddha Purnima

On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a significant meeting with Ladakh's Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and senior officials to ensure public access to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha. This momentous occasion aligns with the auspicious festival of Buddha Purnima, allowing residents a rare opportunity for viewing.
Shah, while in Leh, stated in a message on X that the coming days mark a historic period for Ladakh, as people engage with the sacred Buddha relics. During his visit, Shah will also attend the first-ever international exposition of these revered items on Indian soil, commencing on Buddha Purnima, ensuring unhindered public access.
These relics, originally excavated from Piprahwa in Uttar Pradesh, were flown to Leh via an Indian Air Force aircraft and have previously been exhibited worldwide. Now, open for public veneration in Ladakh, these artifacts signify a monumental cultural event, drawing renewed attention to their historical and spiritual importance.
