Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw underscored significant advancements in railway operations under the NDA government compared to the UPA. He cited an increase of one lakh recruitments over the past decade and introduced an annual recruitment calendar, addressing allegations of unfilled vacancies.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Vaishnaw emphasized the improved safety measures, noting a 68% reduction in accidents. He highlighted that under the UPA regime, the average number of accidents per year was 171, significantly higher than current figures.
The minister also discussed various ongoing projects, including the Vande Bharat, Vande Metro, and Vande Sleeper trains, aiming to enhance passenger services. Additional steps such as electronic interlocking and KAVACH system implementation have been taken to modernize railway infrastructure.
