Ecopetrol Shutters Operations Amid Truckers' Protest Disruption

Colombia's majority state-owned energy company Ecopetrol announced on Thursday that it has started shutting down operations at several oil fields due to disruptions caused by a truckers' protest.
On Wednesday, Ecopetrol had warned that its oil and gas production might be significantly affected by the ongoing protests, potentially choking off shipments of oil to its refineries and impacting the fuel supply throughout Colombia.
The company revealed that a shutdown at the Cano Sur field alone would lead to a reduction in production of 45,000 barrels of oil per day. At least four other fields are also scheduled to be closed, according to a company statement.
