The second edition of the Tribal Art Exhibition was inaugurated at the India Habitat Centre in Delhi on Saturday. The event, organized by government and conservation bodies, including the Ministry of Environment, aims to recognize and promote the conservation ethos of tribal communities through their artistic expressions.
This four-day exhibition serves as a platform for tribal artists from remote areas to engage directly with visitors, participate in workshops, and also visit notable art institutions. Art consultant Divya Singh mentioned the initiative's inception last year during the festive Diwali season, highlighting its aim to inspire future generations by promoting sustainability and tribal art.
With the backing of ministers like S. Jaishankar and Bhupender Yadav, the exhibition emphasizes a direct artist-to-buyer model, eliminating middlemen, thereby ensuring artists receive full proceeds of sales. Notable artists showcased artworks reflecting their unique cultural heritage and the symbiotic relationship with nature, which has already led to significant sales and enthusiastic participation.
